MILITARY SERVICE PAY TO JUNIOR
COMMISSIONED OFFICERS
1. Please refer para
2(c) of our letter number IESL/353/P/2016 Dt. 23rd August 2018 And
your reply vide letter number 624/ D(Pen/Pol)/2017 Dt 08 Oct 2018.
2. Please Intimate present
position of the case.
3. It is intimated that
JCOs of armed forces have been accorded statutory Status of
gazetted officer by an act of parliament vide section 3(xii) of Army act 1950
This has been re-confirmed by the ministry of defence in recent past. Since the
junior commissioned officers are group B gazetted officer having
considerable length of service and separate category of a Pay group and lead
the troops as junior leaders. it is inappropriate to grant them MSP at the same
rate as the Jawans. Military Service Pay
is directly affecting the pension of Junior Commissioned Officers; therefore,
it affects the Morale of JCOs. In view of the above, higher rate of Military
Service Pay i.e. 10500/- needs to
be made applicable to them, same has been recommended by the headquarters of
Army, Navy and Airforce.
