Allowance hike 2022 for TN Government employees, Teachers, Pensioners, Family
Pensioners, and Pongal Gift for Group C and D personnel has been announced by
Honble Chief Minister M.K.Stallin.

With
effect from January 1, 2022, Tamil
Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin announced a 14% rise in
Dearness Allowance for government employees, teachers, pensioners, and family
pensioners.
Stalin
also ordered a harvest celebration and a ‘Pongal’ gift of Rs 3,000 for C and D category employees, Rs 1,000 for those on special pay, and Rs 500 for
pensioners, including those on special pension.
The
Pongal celebration will take place on January 14, 2022.
According
to an official announcement issued here, the increase in DA from 17
to 31 percent will result in an increased spending of Rs 8,724 crore, with an additional expenditure of Rs 169.56
crore for holiday cash gifts. Despite the economic strain, the Chief Minister
ordered a DA rise and a festive gift for all government employees, teachers,
and retirees, according to the administration. Stalin declared in the Assembly
on September 7, 2021 that the
improved Dearness Allowance for government employees and retirees will be
accelerated by three months, with effect from January 1, 2022. The government, on the other hand, had not defined the
amount at the time.
The
government, on the other hand, had not indicated the percentage increase that
was being considered at the time. Employees had requested and expected an
increase of 11%. About 16 lakh
government employees and retirees would benefit from the current DA increase.
The
hike in DA for employees and pensioners was previously announced in the amended
budget (2021-22), with an effective date of April 1, 2022, which was later accelerated by
three months.
